Mark Goulas, M.D. was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He earned a Bachelor of Science at Michigan State University. He then pursued his dream of becoming a physician and graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit in 2000. Dr. Goulas stayed in Michigan to complete his internship at Oakwood Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his Ophthalmology training at Texas Tech University located in Lubbock, Texas, where he developed strong clinical and surgical skills. He has co-authored several research projects, ranging from lasers used in Glaucoma to new surgical techniques used in pediatrics. Dr. Goulas joined a large Ophthalmology practice in Florence, SC in 2004 where he refined his talents as a physician and a surgeon. Dr. Goulas founded Low Country Eye Associates in Bluffton, SC in December 2005 and Goulas Eye in 2013. Dr. Goulas' goal is to provide unparalleled surgical eye care in the Bluffton Hilton Head area, including cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Goulas has performed over 6,000 cataract and refractive surgeries in his career, including state of the art cataract removal/lens implantation and LASIK procedures. Dr. Goulas is also an expert at diagnosing and treating glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and many other ocular diseases
