The Authoritys WorkThe Horry County Solid Waste Authority (SWA) is leading the way in the solid waste management field. We are dedicated to helping Horry County flourish and our education programs promote these ideas to businesses, schools and the general public. We are determined to make recycling and other environmental practices habitual and have several programs in place to reach our goals in ""Protecting Tomorrows Environment Today.""The SWA provides Horry County with the assurance of a fully integrated solid waste management plan which includes landfill management, education, recycling, and state-of-the-art technology. The landfill property is carefully monitored and regulated to ensure safety. A public education department is dedicated to conserving resources and saving landfill space through strong recycling programs for residents, businesses, and schools. The SWA also has several projects such as the Green Power Program and a new 40,000 square-foot LEED certified Recycling Facility.
